Bertone X1/9 VS (Owned: 1991 to date)
This was a one-owner car in excellent condition. It started life in two-tone metallic blue, but two years after purchasing it I had it resprayed in its current metallic grey. The car was purchased from (and maintained by) a specialist garage called The X1/9 Centre, which has since closed. Shortly before I bought it, the car had been borrowed by Auto Express for a photo-shoot, and it appeared in a feature in the 11 June 1991 issue (see extract, below). Some years later, inspired by the recent purchase of my Vanden Plas Princess, I commissioned a Surrey-based specialist woodcraft company to produce a set of burr walnut veneer trim panels for the dashboard. |
