Fiat X1/9 1500 (Owned: 1989-1991)
My first X1/9. This car had had several previous owners, but was nevertheless in fairly good shape when I bought it. After about two years, I had an accident in it, colliding (sideways!) with a parked Peugeot 405. Although I had it professionally repaired, it never seemed quite as sure-footed again, so I part-exchanged it for a later model X1/9, which I still have today. Some months after selling this car, I spotted it parked bonnet-up near my local Tube station. By some strange coincidence, the new owner had broken down while driving through my home town; it turned out to be nothing more serious than a detached fuel pump, and was quickly remedied by the RAC. |
